Creation of choice

For this assignment we were able to do a creation of our personal choice. I decided to make a book cover for a book I am currently writing. This assignment is supposed to use many tools and show your creativity side as well… here are all the steps I used to create my book cover design.
Making the background color:
The first step that I did was in photoshop I went  to edit (shift + f5), scrolled down to fill. For the contents I used black and left the opacity at 100 and left the mode on normal.

Creating the border:
Then next step I did was selected the edge by hitting control + A. I then clicked select scrolled down to modify and selected border. I selected 12 as my pixels that I wanted to select.
After that I made sure my foreground color was set to a deep red. I then unlocked my background layer by double clicking it and selecting ok.
I then clicked edit (shift + f5) and once again selected fill, the contents setting I selected was use foreground color and then hit ok. The last step I did to the border was deselected it by hitting control D.

Making my personal brush:
After creating the border I clicked the text icon on the side toolbar, and wrote the title of my book on the background layer. Then I used the marquee tool (m) and put my title in a box surrounded by marching ants. I then clicked edit and scrolled down to define brush preset. I added the title of the brush and clicked ok.

Using my personal brush:
On the side tool bar I selected the brush tool (b). I selected my personal brush preference and selected the color I wanted to use. I highlighted my background layer and deselected the title ( control + d). after that I clicked on the backround to show me my personal brush.

Enhancing my image:
I tried mixing up the levels and curves, but I didn’t like any option available so I left them at 0.

Extracting a photo:
To do this step I hit file open and clicked on a picture of a rose that I had saved of clipart from the internet. I then put the pictures side by side by arranging the documents and selecting the two that were side by side.
I then unlocked the picture of the rose by double clicking the background layer. I then selected the move tool (v) on the side tool bar, the last step I did to enhance this image was to drag the picture of the rose onto my book cover.
I also had another clipart photo that I wanted to use, so I went to file open and clicked the picture that I wanted to use. I then put the two picture side by side by once again arranging the documents by selecting the two images that were side by side. After I did this I unlocked the photo  that I wanted to use by double clicking on the background layer and hitting ok on the pop up menu. Once again I selected the move tool (v) to drag the image onto my book cover.

Transforming the extracted images:
After both images were placed on the cover, I highlighted the layer that I wanted to crop. I then went to edit free transform and adjusted the size of the image. When I was done making the adjustments I hit enter. I did the same thing to the other image that I extracted. After I made adjustments to both of the photos I used the move tool (v) to put each picture where I wanted it, but in order to do this I had to be highlighted on the layer I wanted to make adjustments to.

Duplicating an image and changing its blending mode:
I first highlighted the layer of the picture that I wanted. Then I copied the layer ( control + j) after that I changed the blending mode by selecting the blending mode box near the layers panel and selected exclusion.

Adding a layer style:
To do this step I first had to be selected on the layer that I wanted to change the style of. After that I  went to layer and selected layer style and picked inner shadow. On the pop up menu I made sure that the inner shadow option was highlighted. Then I changed the distance to 6px, the choke to 74%, the size to 98, and lastly I had the color choice set to black.

Changing the color of a selected image:
I first selected the layer I wanted to change the color of and highlighted it. Then at went to image and scrolled down to replace color. On the pop up menu I set the hue: +57, the saturation: +19, and lastly the lightness: +77.

Adding a filter:
I tried messing around by going to filter and trying many of the options. However I did not like any of them.

I like this book cover because it represents different things that are going to be in the book. It shows how things in life can be unexpected and in strange places. It also shows that beautiful things can happen when you put effort into the work to pull it off. I also love how it has its own personal spunk.

Personalized card

This is my personalized card that i think represents me. First I typed my initials on the page, then I used the internet and found a picture that i thought would look good for the backround of the letters. After that i made a layer above my text layer for the image. Then I made sure to copy onto my text. I then went to layer, and selected create a clipping mask which put the photo as the backround of the text. The last step I did was I went to filter and selected render clouds.
This photo represents me because I'm always looking at the sky daydreaming. I also think the letters represent my personality, the fact that my life has been very colorful and a whirlwind.

postcard

this picture was taken in september of 2010. with corrections made. I used auto without the flash on. for corrections I  used the Quick selection tool to select just the tractor. Then I double clicked to drag it (the tractor) over to the road image of mine. But the it was to big so I went to image clicked free transform to make it smaller. Next I changed the brightness to -16 and the contrast to -26 lastly I added the title in yellow at the bottom with font size at 200 and the font set at wide Latin with a crisp cut the last step I did was right click on my tractor layer and hit blending options. I set the distance at 26 left the spread at 0, and set the size to 38. i put the drop shadow on the tractor because the shadow i thought would make it look.... better.

My choice

(I used auto setting without flash.)This is the original shot with no corrections made. I took this photo in October of 2010. I took the photo at my school in front of a row of lockers.

This is the same photo, but with corrections made. I used the spot healing brush to remove strands of hair. Then I shifted the around the brightness to 16 and contrast to 100. I like the corrected shot better because the colors of the makeup and hair color is more vivid.

Architecture Picture

This is my original shot with no corrections made. This  picture was taken in September 2010 out side of laporte highschool. I used auto setting without the flash on.

This is the same photo with a few corrections made. The first thing I did was rotate the image. Then I cropped the photo to remove pieces of the building that was not needed. After that I made adjustments to the levels and changed the input to -36 and the output to 3. after that step the last thing that I did was moved the curve level so the input level was at 18 and the output I kept at 0.
I like this shot most because it darkens the tint and adds a little green shade that wasn't there before.
I decided to use this shot as my architecture photo because it shows a building that many people worked hard to build and it is a place where many feet have entered and learned great lessons.

Scale shot!

This picture was taken in October of 2010. I selected portrait scene setting with the flash on as well. This is my original photo with no corrections made.

This is the same picture as the one above, but with corrections made. I used the healing brush tool to heal the teenage girls out of place hair on the right side, I also used to healing brush tool to remove the little milk splotches under the boy's bottom lip. Next i cropped the picture to cut out some of what was not needed in this shot. Then I used the quick selection tool to make the coat in the backround dissapear... After I had the area that i wanted to change selected I went to the color balance and put the red at -2, the green at +38, and the blue at 0.
I used this shot as my scale image because it shows the growing people do over the years. ( from a young child to a teenager)
I like this shot best because it doesn't have all of the clutter in the backround like the original.
